This was a direct response letter sent to owners of previous models of PalmOne’s Treo smartphones, asking them to upgrade to the newest model that had more bells and whistles than anything Palm had ever created. As a freelance copywriter, I was hired by Carat Interactive, a leading San Francisco ad agency, to wordsmith this project.
This promotion had a lot going for it:
— A great smartphone bundle (FREE Bluetooth Wireless Headset, FREE 1-year subscription to Express Wireless Weather software, and FREE Express Shipping).
— A limited-time offer (the expiration date was about one month from the date of the mailing).
— A strong, clean layout by Kuleana Design.
— And a long list of new features.
The result? PalmOne sold over $150K worth of Treo smartphones in one month during this promotion.
